Reflections on a Month of Art Challenges

I can't even believe that October is now over. It's been a month of incredible growth for me as an artist, thanks to all the art challenges. From Doodlewash to Inktober and everything in between, I've learned to hone in on my watercolor paintings and explored new mediums and styles.

Diving into Art Challenges

October is like a secret jackpot for us artists and busy moms. With the kids back in school, I finally had some decent painting time (more than 15 minutes at a time, hallelujah!). And let me tell you, the art community on Instagram is a constant source of inspiration.

Trials, Errors, and Learning Moments

Of course, it hasn't been all rainbows and unicorns. Oh no, I've faced my fair share of challenges, doubting myself and making silly mistakes along the way. But each time that happens, I learned from it and it is moving me forward into the artist that I am today.

Key Takeaways from the Art Challenge

  1. Embrace Imperfection: It's weirdly liberating to accept that messing up a painting is totally fine, especially if it means trying out new techniques. Perfect isn't the goal; growth is!

  2. Community and Support: Connecting with fellow artists during these challenges has been amazing. They are like the cheerleaders on the sidelines, always giving me that extra boost of inspiration and support. And it's been a blast seeing everyone's unique take on the same prompt challenges.

  3. Unleashing Creativity: Participating in multiple art challenges allowed me to combine prompts and create the most bizarre yet fun interpretations. Some of them are admittedly odd and I still loved it! I love how these prompts get me to think differently all the time.

  4. Self-Growth: Each art challenge was like a stepping stone, guiding me along my path. I've discovered what works for me and what doesn't. What I like to do and what I don't. It's hard to put into words, but all these little discoveries have helped to sharpen my focus and give me the confidence to move me forward even more.

Looking Ahead: Continuing the Momentum

I'm carrying these lessons and newfound creativity into the months and years ahead. So buckle up, my friends, because there's more creativity coming your way!
